Four secondary students across the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board recently represented Hamilton on the world stage at the 54th edition of the International Children’s Games.
Recognized by the International Olympic Committee, this year’s Games took place in Coventry, England from August 11 to 16, seeing young athletes aged 14-15 compete from 73 cities across 31 countries.
Since its inception in 1968, over 50,000 youth from over 100 nations have competed.
Lyliana Jones (St. Thomas More), Maya Valeri and Isabella Murillo Presutti (Bishop Ryan) and Sofia Consoli (Bishop Tonnos) took to the soccer pitch to help represent Team Hamilton.
Other sports Team Hamilton participated in included swimming and tennis.
This year’s games in Coventry focused on sustainability and building towards a carbon neutral world in the future while building lasting friendships amongst the 1,500 participants attending.
