Anna Ptaszek of the St. Mary Crusaders followed up her outstanding high school debut performance with a 32nd-place finish at the OFSAA cross-country championships on Saturday.
Competing in a field of 251 runners at Oshawa’s Dagmar Ski Resort, her time for the 4-kilometre event was 17 minutes, 30.47 seconds.
At the recent Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference meet, Ptaszek raced to a second-place finish.
In other action at the provincial high school championships, GHAC champion Chloe Seiler of the Bishop Tonnos Titans placed 35th in the junior girls’ category (20:17/43). That result helped the Titans team finish 22nd overall. Other Bishop Tonnos junior runners included Ilaria Mele, Sofia Tilley, Tessa Harvey and Samantha Palma.
The senior girls’ division saw Olivia Lanc of the St. Jean de Brebeuf Braves complete the 6K course in 92nd place, followed in 122nd spot by Ashley Pinciaro of the Bishop Ryan Celtics.
Another Brebeuf student – Benjamin Casey – competed in the novice boys’ 4K and placed 99th among 251 entrants.
In the Para mixed 4K competition, OFSAA veteran Nicolas Fricano of Bishop Tonnos came 16th in a field of 27. His time was 24:24 09.
