Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School demonstrated great commitment to recognizing and observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as both staff and students came together by wearing their orange shirts. This symbolic gesture showed solidarity with Indigenous communities and honoured the survivors of residential schools, as well as those who never made it home. By participating in this meaningful event, the school community fostered awareness and reflection on the historical injustices faced by Indigenous Peoples, reinforcing the importance of education, empathy, and reconciliation in building a more inclusive future.
Through active listening, prayer and right action, the
Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board is dedicated to honouring the
journey of truth, reconciliation and healing and building positive connections
and relationships of trust, honesty, and respect while strengthening
collaborations with Indigenous communities, parents and families.
