This year, students and staff are asked to wear pink on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, to raise awareness about bullying and to promote the dignity of the human person and inclusivity for all HWCDSB students. This year, the theme of Pink Shirt Day is again “Lift Each Other Up” - a simple but powerful message encouraging everyone to work together and treat others with dignity and respect. As Catholic school communities created in God’s image, our wearing of pink is a symbol of our communal expression of love, hope, and peace.

Families are struggling with the rising cost of inflation and need your help to purchase food and goods for this holiday season. As leaders in our school community, the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Hamilton is looking to us for support as we focus our efforts on the children and families in our schools that need added support. In honour of Giving Tuesday, the CCASH invites you to participate in their annual Give the Gift of Joy campaign by helping our school to raise monetary donations to help those who need it most this holiday season from November 21 – December 1, 2023.

BT football headed to GHAC championship

Bishop Tonnos topped the visiting Nelson Lords of Burlington, 52-18. That outcome sets up a GHAC title game Tuesday between BT and the Halton Catholic champion Corpus Christi Longhorns. Corpus Christi also earned its berth Wednesday with a 41-23 semifinal decision over the St. John Henry Newman Cardinals.

During Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week, Ontario students, school staff and parents are encouraged to learn more about bullying and its effect on student learning and well-being. Schools are encouraged to use this opportunity to explain the different forms that bullying can take.

This year the 23rd annual Breakfast of Champions are community partners with the 2023 Grey Cup Festival, presented by Stelco. SportHamilton, also in partnership with the City of Hamilton was proud to recognize and congratulate Hamilton area athletes, teams and coaches that have accomplished high successes and achievements in the 2023 season. Your Bishop Tonnos CSS Senior Girls volleyball team, 2023 Ofsaa champions were recognized at this year’s breakfast at the Hamilton Convention Centre. The four graduating players were unable to attend due to their post secondary commitments , but eight of the returning Tonnos players were in attendance along with their coaches.

The Bishop Tonnos Administration along with Catholic School Council invite Bishop Tonnos CSS families to join us on Sunday, November 12th to celebrate mass at St. Ann's parish (11 Wilson St. West, Ancaster). The purpose of this endeavour is to strengthen the connection between home, school, and parish. Bishop Tonnos students will lead participants in the Mass. We have also invited staff members and their families to join us in this celebration. The mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. with refreshments to follow in the parish hall. We look forward to seeing you and your families for this wonderful opportunity to build community and celebrate our faith together.

Just a reminder to all staff, students, and our community that tomorrow morning at 9:00am, the Bishop Tonnos Catholic School community will be participating in the Walk for Wenjak. The walk will take place on our Track/Turf until approximately 10:00am. This will be solemn event, so we remind all participants to be mindful of the true meaning of the event, be respectful, and considerate of the work being put into this very special event. Staff, students, and community members are encouraged to wear purple or orange tops (and uniform bottoms).

Titans advance to baseball championship

The Titans face the Braves on Oct. 12 at 11:30 am at Bernie Arbour Stadium for the championship title. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase via school-cash-on-line until 9:00am. Tickets including bus transportation are on sale for $7 and tickets for Grades 11 and 12 students looking to find their own transportation can purchase tickets for $4. Attendance will be taken at the gates. Students who purchased tickets will be dismissed at 10:45am. Students taking advantage of the bus transportation will be dropped off at school after the game. Go Titans!!!!!

Dear Titans...please wear appropriate footwear!

All students are expected to wear school-appropriate footwear (runners/sneakers preferably). As much we love the trendy slides, crocks, and Ugg slippers, they are not safe to be wearing around the school. Our custodial staff tries their best to keep the floors dry and clean, but we all know that there's always a risk of tripping or falling. Please, let's take care of ourselves! See page 36 of the Student Agenda for more details about the uniform policy.

Titan Excellence at the 2023 E.R. Monaco Young Entrepreneurs Award

Business and Entrepreneurship students at Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School were honored to attend the 10th Anniversary of the E.R. Monaco Young Entrepreneurs Awards. There were 23 students from Bishop Tonnos C.S.S. in attendance at the awards banquet along with other students from other schools in the city, hosted by the City of Hamilton’s Business Centre. These students, along with many other students, submitted business plans for the competition, that were evaluated by a panel of judges weeks before the banquet. The awards banquet finished Titan strong with monetary awards going to Bishop Tonnos students.

Titans Take Cardinals in Senior Football

The only two teams with undefeated records in Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic senior high school football treated a capacity crowd at St. John Henry Newman to a Friday Night Lights thriller. The Bishop Tonnos Titans (4-0) led all the way against the Cardinals but were hard pressed to hang on for a 7-6 victory at Newman’s homecoming.
