To begin Catholic Education Week, on Sunday, May 5, 2024 students and staff of HWCDSB will be participating in our 18th annual Pilgrimage 'Walk with Christ - Justice for the Poor', an event that will raise money to support development projects in Uganda.

For the second consecutive year Ancaster’s Bishop Tonnos Titans have returned from an OFSAA girls’ volleyball championship with a medal.

This year, students and staff are asked to wear pink on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, to raise awareness about bullying and to promote the dignity of the human person and inclusivity for all HWCDSB students. This year, the theme of Pink Shirt Day is again “Lift Each Other Up” - a simple but powerful message encouraging everyone to work together and treat others with dignity and respect. As Catholic school communities created in God’s image, our wearing of pink is a symbol of our communal expression of love, hope, and peace.

The Reverend John C. Holland Awards celebrate and recognize the academic achievements and aspirations of Black youth by offering scholarships and support to assist them in accessing post-secondary education. After winning the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic senior girls’ high school volleyball championship last Thursday over the St. Thomas More Knights, a group of Tonnos players headed off for President’s Day recruiting tournaments in the United States.

Strategies to help with exam anxiety. Tues. Jan. 23rd in Room 11. First 15 minutes of periods 3 and 4. Pre-exam de-stress sessions will take place in room 111 on Jan. 29, 30, and Feb. 1 from 8:00-8:15am.

The last day of Semester 1 is Thursday, January 25, 2024. Exam week will run from Friday, January 26, 2024 to Thursday, February 1, 2024. Please review the Student Information Package for further details about special bell times, transportation, exam procedures, P.A. Day, exam viewing, and the start of Semester 2.

Some senior seniors have helped propel the Bishop Tonnos Titans to a fast start in boys’ high school basketball. The visiting Titans improved to 3-0 in the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic standings with an 83-69 victory over the St. Jean de Brebeuf Braves Tuesday.

Playing the Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference championship game in Burlington Tuesday, the Titans led throughout before dropping a 16-15 decision to the Corpus Christi Longhorns.

Families are struggling with the rising cost of inflation and need your help to purchase food and goods for this holiday season. As leaders in our school community, the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Hamilton is looking to us for support as we focus our efforts on the children and families in our schools that need added support. In honour of Giving Tuesday, the CCASH invites you to participate in their annual Give the Gift of Joy campaign by helping our school to raise monetary donations to help those who need it most this holiday season from November 21 – December 1, 2023.

Bishop Tonnos topped the visiting Nelson Lords of Burlington, 52-18. That outcome sets up a GHAC title game Tuesday between BT and the Halton Catholic champion Corpus Christi Longhorns. Corpus Christi also earned its berth Wednesday with a 41-23 semifinal decision over the St. John Henry Newman Cardinals.

Ontario has designated the week beginning on the third Sunday of November as Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week to help promote safe schools and a positive learning environment. During Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week, Ontario students, school staff and parents are encouraged to learn more about bullying and its effect on student learning and well-being. Schools are encouraged to use this opportunity to explain the different forms that bullying can take.

This year the 23rd annual Breakfast of Champions are community partners with the 2023 Grey Cup Festival, presented by Stelco. SportHamilton, also in partnership with the City of Hamilton was proud to recognize and congratulate Hamilton area athletes, teams and coaches that have accomplished high successes and achievements in the 2023 season. Your Bishop Tonnos CSS Senior Girls volleyball team, 2023 Ofsaa champions were recognized at this year’s breakfast at the Hamilton Convention Centre. The four graduating players were unable to attend due to their post secondary commitments , but eight of the returning Tonnos players were in attendance along with their coaches.

The Canada & World Studies Department is once again organizing our Share the Warmth Clothing Drive to assist less fortunate students and their families in the Greater Hamilton Community. Through school and community contacts, your donations will directly help Hamiltonians that struggle to stay warm throughout the winter season

The Bishop Tonnos Administration along with Catholic School Council invite Bishop Tonnos CSS families to join us on Sunday, November 12th to celebrate mass at St. Ann's parish (11 Wilson St. West, Ancaster). The purpose of this endeavour is to strengthen the connection between home, school, and parish. Bishop Tonnos students will lead participants in the Mass. We have also invited staff members and their families to join us in this celebration. The mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. with refreshments to follow in the parish hall. We look forward to seeing you and your families for this wonderful opportunity to build community and celebrate our faith together.

Runners from Bishop Tonnos finished 1-2 in the senior girls’ race at the Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference high school cross-country championships Tuesday.

Just a reminder to all staff, students, and our community that tomorrow morning at 9:00am, the Bishop Tonnos Catholic School community will be participating in the Walk for Wenjak. The walk will take place on our Track/Turf until approximately 10:00am. This will be solemn event, so we remind all participants to be mindful of the true meaning of the event, be respectful, and considerate of the work being put into this very special event. Staff, students, and community members are encouraged to wear purple or orange tops (and uniform bottoms).

Congratulations to Richard (Rene) White, the embodiment of excellence in the teaching profession. White’s dedication and transformative approach to education have earned him the well-deserved 2023 Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence in STEM.

Bishop Tonnos defeated the St. Jean de Brebeuf Braves 7-2 at Bernie Arbour Stadium on Oct. 12 to capture its second consecutive HWCDSB baseball championship.

The Titans face the Braves on Oct. 12 at 11:30 am at Bernie Arbour Stadium for the championship title. A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase via school-cash-on-line until 9:00am. Tickets including bus transportation are on sale for $7 and tickets for Grades 11 and 12 students looking to find their own transportation can purchase tickets for $4. Attendance will be taken at the gates. Students who purchased tickets will be dismissed at 10:45am. Students taking advantage of the bus transportation will be dropped off at school after the game. Go Titans!!!!!

All students are expected to wear school-appropriate footwear (runners/sneakers preferably). As much we love the trendy slides, crocks, and Ugg slippers, they are not safe to be wearing around the school. Our custodial staff tries their best to keep the floors dry and clean, but we all know that there's always a risk of tripping or falling. Please, let's take care of ourselves! Business and Entrepreneurship students at Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School were honored to attend the 10th Anniversary of the E.R. Monaco Young Entrepreneurs Awards. There were 23 students from Bishop Tonnos C.S.S. in attendance at the awards banquet along with other students from other schools in the city, hosted by the City of Hamilton’s Business Centre. These students, along with many other students, submitted business plans for the competition, that were evaluated by a panel of judges weeks before the banquet. The awards banquet finished Titan strong with monetary awards going to Bishop Tonnos students.

October is Cyber Awareness Month in Ontario. ECNO (Educational Computing Network of Ontario), in partnership with Ontario School Boards and the Ministry of Education, is celebrating K-12 Cyber Awareness Month, developed to help inform students, teachers, families and communities about the risks of using technology and the internet by promoting best practices in cyber safety, cyber security, and online privacy. The only two teams with undefeated records in Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic senior high school football treated a capacity crowd at St. John Henry Newman to a Friday Night Lights thriller. The Bishop Tonnos Titans (4-0) led all the way against the Cardinals but were hard pressed to hang on for a 7-6 victory at Newman’s homecoming.

Staff and Students at Bishop Tonnos CSS supported the Orange Shirt Campaign on Sept. 27, 2023. As a school community we prayed for one heart and one mind to walk together in the love and strength of our Lord's spirit, in truth, reconciliation, and peace.

Staff and students of HWCDSB continue to commemorate Truth and Reconciliation during the week of September 25th-30th. BTCSS staff and students are encouraged to support the Orange Shirt Campaign on Sept. 27th, 2023.
